About

Our focus is on how landscapes evolve on Earth and other planetary bodies. We use fieldwork, remote sensing, experiments, simulations and theory to understand how the surfaces of planets work. Why do they look the way they do? Can we predict how they change? How are they coupled to other aspects of nature, like the atmosphere or biosphere?

At the moment we have particular interests in these problems:

  • Fieldwork on aeolian (wind-blown) linear sand dunes in Australia

  • Experiments on dunes made in flow from more than one direction

  • Simulations on the stability of drainage networks to perturbation
